Why I love Being In Real Estate!
In the spirit of Valentines Day and love in general, I am writing a quick post about What I Love About My Job.
I have many examples of why I love being a real estate agent, but here is one recent story:
Over a year ago, a young couple called me. They found me online, and they were hoping that I could assist them in finding an apartment/rental. They were not ready to purchase a home at this point. I gave them some advice, and we chatted for quite some time. They appreciated the 30 minutes that I spent talking with them, and the tips that I gave them too. They also loved my GIVE BACK Program, where I donate to an animal shelter/rescue, or any non profit organization on my client’s behalf upon each closing. They had pets, so we chatted about that at great length as well.
Fast forward to 2 months ago. They called me again, saying that they remembered how kind I was and helpful to them when they initially called me.
They had found a home in an area that they loved. They wanted to know if I could find out some information on it for them, and also set up a showing. They warned me that if this home did not work out, that they would not be looking any further. Even with that information, I of course set up the showing. They loved the home. We wrote an offer. It was accepted. We closed on the home. Here is a picture at closing—look at those cute smiling faces!
I work with a lot of first time home buyers. Sure, it takes a lot more time working with folks who are new to the home buying process. Yes, one must be patient and answer a ton of questions that they have along the way. They need recommendations on the preapproval process, home inspections, etc. Although it is not often a huge commission check, it is so rewarding! Seeing the excitement in first time home buyer’s eyes like the picture above illustrates, makes is so worth it!
So, the moral of the story? Take time to answer the calls and questions someone has of you. Be kind. Be courteous….just because it is the right thing to do. Share your knowledge as a real estate agent, without the expectation of an immediate paycheck. You will not be disappointed! And, that, is just one reason why I love what I do!
